CHINESE WEBNOVELS

I haven’t even heard about them before December 2019, but after that I am quite interested in them and even somewhat addicted. They aren’t very good sometime logic just fall apart but they keep you entertained and I think people aged 13–21 will be quite interested in it, as these web novels are very entertaining and their main focus should also be this age group.

👉HOW I CHANCED UPON THEM

At the beginning of November 2020 I had watched a Chinese drama called ‘Legend of Han Yunxi’ on suggestion of a friend. It has the elements of fantasy, ancient china, martial arts and romance. After watching the show I was not satisfied with the ending so I searched for the it on the web, there I found that it is based on a Chinese web novel called ‘Poison Physician Consort’. To read the said novel I had gone on a website novelupdates.com . And from there on I found various Chinese web novels ranging from ancient setting to modern ones, from transmigration(I hadn’t heard of the term before) to rebirth of characters, from zombie world to beast-man world, from gaming to cultivation world(it was also fairly new for me) and all other such genres.

👉WHAT KIND OF WEB NOVELS I HAVE READ

Mainly they were of historical setting or modern setting(like the world we are currently living in) with a tinge of romance. Let me mention the name of some novels so that there will be an idea that what they are about

> POISON GENIUS CONSORT- It is basically about a poison expert girl from modern times transmigrated with a space (its kind of invisible space where you can put things, its kind of ridiculous but its fiction here)into ancient china on the day of her wedding. How she use her skills to create a better version of life for herself. Also there is the cultivation world.

>THE LITTLE GRAND SECRETARY IN MY HOUSE- It is about a young boy around 14 years old and how a dream changed his life. Main attraction to me was how the customs and lifestyle was then and how his child-bride used her wits to do business for making the ends meet. Also there was the understanding between people which was a great plus point.

>REBIRTH OF MALICIOUS EMPRESS OF MILITARY LINEAGE- It shows the dynamics between ruler and subject(maybe they were somewhat biased). How its like a riding a tiger to accompany the monarch. How courtiers and monarchs interacted and acted toward each other, what were there concerns and how it affected their lives.

>A SLIGHT SMILE IS VERY CHARMING- It was a sweet little story which mainly fascinates some teenage girls, and I was one of them. Its about a couple who came together through an online game. There is a point about popularising their traditional values through the games which really grabbed my attention.

And I do have a long list but I think this much can express that what the main themes were about.

👉WHAT I GATHERED

They have done an amazing job of entertaining people with the addition of glimpse to ancient china. They are also designed in a way so that you can come to love their food(if you are a non-vegetarian), their sceneries, dress and customs. In the backdrop there was also patriotism for their country. They have presented how protagonists used their skills to create a better life for themselves but there were also exaggerations. There was anguish and dog blood also.

This novels are really good for entertainment and also for fun learning something about the China, but mostly they are not very accurate.
